My son Mitaro is a great fan of the "Thomas the Tank Engine"
series and takes fancy to steam locomotives. So we, Mitaro and I, visited
a place in Kyoto where you can actually ride passenger cars towed by a
huge old engine, a C62 or a D51, on April 4.
This was actually our second visit to the place. When we went there the
previous time, Mitaro was scared at the huge engines in the huge dim-lit
garage, and the very loud sound the engine's whistles made, and got out
of the institute quite soon. So this was virtually our first visit.
We took supper at a sushi restaurant in Sanjo Kawaramachi, Kyoto. We found
small bullet-train-shaped automatic carriers bringing orders to our seats.
You could imagine how happy and excited my railroad-buff son was!

My wife took the five pictures below at a nearby community playground on
April 6. My son is proud of the fact that he can ride swings by himself.
