　Though this movement is not currently running, its balance seems to have no problem. The balance staff is not broken. The hairspring is in good shape. Good mainspring. Setting and winding parts also work perfectly except for the lost hour wheel. No apparent abnormalities other than the lost hour wheel detected by visual inspection, though I can offer no warranty in regard to the mechanical condition. Sold as is.

　The seven-digit serial number is inscribed on a bridge. The pillar plate has the lower four digits of the serial number on it.

　The extreme part of the setting bridge that touches the setting lever is not engaged with the protrusion of the latter, but simply on it, as can be seen in the photos above. In watch movements of the later periods, the small protrusion of the setting lever catches the extreme of the thin arm of the setting bridge. In the setting/winding mechanism of Gruen 835, however, although the setting lever does have the small protrusion, it is not engaged with the extreme of the setting bridge's arm. The latter simply presses downward the setting lever's protrusion so that the setting lever is kept on the same level as the clutch lever. The clutch lever itself, pivoted safely on the pillar plate with a screw, has an indent on it, which catches the beek-like protrusion of the setting lever, keeping the hour wheel and the setting wheel engaged. This is an excellent system, for the thin arm of the setting bridge, not moving as it would in watches of later periods, fatigues hard, which prevents it from breaking, giving the part a much longer life.

　現状で動きませんが、天真は折れておらず、ひげぜんまいも良好な状態です。主ぜんまいも切れていません。筒車がありませんが、巻き上げ・時刻合わせ機構は正常に動作します。七桁のシリアル番号が受けに刻印されています。地板にはシリアル番号の下四桁が刻印されています。

　「グリュエン キャリバー 835」の裏押さえは、「オシドリとカンヌキの高さがずれないように、オシドリを地板側に押し付ける役割」「カンヌキが鼓車から外れないように押し付ける働き」「小鉄車と日の裏車が地板から外れないように押し付ける働き」を果たしています。

　地板側から撮影した写真を見ると、裏押さえの先端がオシドリの突起と噛み合わず、突起の真上に乗っていることがわかります。これは異常ではありません。「グリュエン キャリバー 835」の裏押さえはそもそもオシドリの突起と噛み合うように設計されていないのです。この機種の裏押さえは、オシドリとカンヌキの高さがずれないように、オシドリの突起を地板側に押し付ける役割を果たします。カンヌキには、オシドリ側の側面に切り欠いたような凹みがあります。時刻合わせの際は、オシドリの突出部分がこのくぼみに嵌り、鼓車と小鉄車が噛み合った状態に保たれます。

　後世の時計では、長年に亙って時刻合わせの操作を繰り返すうちに、裏押さえの細い部分が金属疲労を起こし、いつか必ず折れてしまいます。しかしながらグリュエン 835の仕組みは裏押さえに疲労が起きにくいと考えられ、たいへん優れています。
